INTERESTING FACTS

25% of men who experience male pattern baldness begin the process by age 21

Androgenic alopecia is a condition that can affect both males and females. Men that suffer from this can begin losing hair as early as their teenage years or early 20s. It is noticed by a gradual disappearance of hair from the crown and the front of the scalp (receding hairlines). Women with this condition usually start noticing hair thinning at their 40s and they experience the most extensive hair loss in the crown.

Although androgenic alopecia is the most common reason for hair loss in men (95% of hair loss cases) there are other factors that contribute to thinning of the hair, such as:

  • Medications

  • Stress

  • Hypothyroidism

  • Iron deficiency

  • Scarring alopecia

  • Alopecia areata
